A Tale of a Young Musician

Dubai, UAE - 13th August 2018 - Rishit Mitra was born with music in his heart.

Born in Abu Dhabi, Rishit has recently moved to Dubai and is a student of Grade 9 (year 2018-2019) at International School of Choueifat in Dubai Investment Park.

Rishit’s musical journey began at 2 years when he surprised his parents by beating his play drum set to the precise rhythm of a popular A.R. Rahman repertoire and soon after making it evident he had a keen ear for picking up musical notes by listening when he playfully started copying the first few lines from popular songs on his mini-keyboard including the ever popular “Godfather”.

Since 2012, Rishit has been training in classical Piano with ABRSM (now in Grade 5) under the mentorship of accredited international teachers who have all acknowledged his talent for the instrument. His talent is backed by a diligent pursuit of the skill as he continues to practice at least an hour daily since last 7 years, while balancing a bright academic record at school.

Rishit however most enjoys the creative process of piano and loves playing music more with his ears than his eyes. He listens to music pieces he enjoys and converts them into his own piano covers.

He has recently earned “Commendable Performance“ at the Young Musician Competition hosted by CMA Dubai for his piano rendition of Despacito, and has also performed solo in his school music concert and notably in the awardation ceremony of the “4th Big Idea Amazing Teachers Awards”.

In his strive to excel in his art, Rishit recently completed an exhaustive 2-week summer program at the London Contemporary School of Piano, and has started a year-long program with them in parallel with his training in ABRSM, aimed at providing him with an intensive exposure to classical, jazz and contemporary genres, while honing his natural ability in the creative process of music composition and improvisation.
