KG students at Mayoor School, Abu Dhabi display a mosque model made of dried leaves.

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 28th April 2019 -Students joined the fight to ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ – the theme for this year’s World Environment Day. It was an all round effort by students of Mayoor School, where they worked on many ways to tackle the environmental challenges.

There were lot of innovative experiments being tried by students. The secondary section students made vertical gardens with plastic bottles, pebbles and old CDs. Class 8 students made self-sustaining plants and trip drip irrigation system. Students from kindergarten sections created a model of a mosque made from dried leaves. “The primary students made bird houses in the bird sanctuary as a cross curricular project to show empathy towards the environment,” principal Annahita Pagdiwalla said after inaugurating the bird sanctuary.

Giving an illustration to students, the principal covered her face with a plastic cover to show how it suffocates the planet earth too. “We don’t promote the use of plastic,” she added.
