Mayoor Private School, a CBSE school in Al Wathba, South, Abu Dhabi incorporates 17 sustainable goals of the United Nations with its new initiative titled-Kindling Kindness.
Keeping in mind the holistic growth and development of students, this campaign was launched on Sunday,23rd June 2019 which will continue through till the end of the week,Thursday,June 27th,2019 in order to build empathy and gratitude in budding Mayoorites. Students were explained how to be kind to themselves by eating healthy and then being kind and helpful to all human beings, animals and the environment around them.
The activities for the week included making of Bookmarks, Posters, Role Playing by the senior students to be enacted with the KG tiny tots. A Kindness tree was designed where students and staff had to note down acts of kindness they have witnessed and stick it on the tree,. This was accompanied by food and utilities distribution through out the week for our kind and dedicated support staff.”I feel so happy to see the students doing this. It makes us feel really loved and special. I would like to thank the teachers also for inculcating such values in the students.” said one of our bus nanny.
To mark the Year of Tolerance and inline with the vision of the UAE government,
Ms Annahita Pagdiwalla said while addressing the students “We sincerely hope to see all academic organizations work to further consolidate tolerance and empathy towards people around them and spread these values among our youth and future generations.”
Students themselves came up with ideas like designing and mailing special letters of gratitude to our Indian Army soldiers. As a sustainable school initiative, the necessity of passing on the valuable resources to the future generations and how to dispose off waste of varied categories was stressed on. A collection drive was organized by the school to collect paper, books, plastic bottles, cans and mobile phones.The Kindergarten students joined the initiative by conducting a parade across the school to educate everyone with regards to air pollution with banners and face masks.
