Amiteash Paul, a student of Grade 11 at The Indian High School, Dubai is a winner of  the NRI of the Year Award 2018.

Amiteash educated and established colour-coded waste segregation recycling bins in the factories, offices and labour camps in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman as he is ardent about protecting the environment and working towards building a zero waste sustainable UAE by 2030.

Previously, he has been recognised for his academic achievements, which include winning the Shaikh Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic Performance and the Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence. He has also won several honours in Spelling Bee, Olympiads and Aptitude examinations.

Amiteash is a volunteer with different organisations like the Community Development Authority, Dubai (Honour Labour Program Initiative), India Club, Emirates Environmental Group, Be’aah, Dubai Cares and Protect your Mom Asia.

He is also passionate about integrating the people of determination into mainstream society and has been volunteering with the Manzil Foundation (part of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services), the RKM Blind Boys’ Academy, Narendrapur, West Bengal, as well as spending time with the hearing impaired students of Deaf School in India.

He is also involved in a lot of charitable activities in UAE such as The Box Appeal Project, Adopt-A-Camp Organisation, Water for Workers by The [Sameness] Project etc.

Amiteash is motivated by Dr. Vance Havner’s words – “The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs.”
