Nileena Mariam Jonesh, an Indian girl aged 8 years. She is an outstanding student in Gems Millennium School, Sharjah who always secures more than 99% marks in her exams. She is a very confident and determined child and has won the Prestigious H.H Sheikh Hamdan award for the distinguished student for her distinct academic excellence, leadership, social work, commitment to the environment, multiple talents, skills and innovation. Nileena is an aspiring environmentalist and an active Eco monitor in the school.
Dance and music are stress busters and passion in her life. Bharatanatyam is a classical dance form of India and she is keeping her culture and tradition closer to her heart. She is utilizing all the platforms she gets to perform dance and music and has won in various national and international competitions.. Reading and creative writing are her hobbies along with playing chess and her articles and poems have been published in Khaleej times and school magazines. She has received prizes for elocution, poem recitation in youth festivals conducted across UAE. Spell bee, Mathbee, kenken puzzle competitions and Olympiads have helped her discover the real talents in her.
She has written a poem about corona and has done a PowerPoint, for teaching her school mates about corona and safety and have performed a dance to raise awareness among the public about the symptoms and prevention of COVID-19. She has made a social distancing sensor that alerts people to maintain a 2meter distance from others. She also distributed masks to the labourers. She is a certified covid ambassador of Mohammed bin Rashed University in Dubai.
Being a member of an NGO called Green Globe Nileena participated in many campaigns and has got an opportunity to work for the welfare of labourers in the camp. She has always contributed to the cause with the prize money that she received from spelling bee competitions, by distributing iftar kits to the poor and needy. During her stay in kerala, she used to visit the pain and palliative care centre PARIPALANA to be with the elderly and terminally ill patients. She is helping a child, younger to her with ADHD settled in Canada to study through online classes.
Nileena is an active volunteer of Dubai and Sharjah municipality campaigns and has continued her services to keep the cities neat and clean. Every year she actively takes part in the environment excellence school award of BEE'AH and has won first prize for short story writing this year on the theme 'marine conservation
Reduce, recycle and reuse are the golden words to reduce pollution and she is collecting the newspapers from my neighbours and depositing it in the recycle centres. She has a small library with a variety of books at home and is open to her neighbourhood children to motivate their reading habit. She planted a small garden in her balcony as a first step to greening the community.and extended her green thumb to wetlands, desert and school organic farm The various initiatives of the UAE government have really motivated her to continue my services. She has won prizes for innovista, the science project competition which is held every year. Nileena has made a flood detector model to ensure the safety of people during monsoon and an automatic street light system to reduce the wastage of electricity and has won the prize in the Innovista competition.
Nileena donated her hair, toys and prize money from spell bee for Friends of Cancer Patients to bring a smile on their face. Performing dance to address social issues and raise awareness among the public shows that she is socially committed.
