DINIRU SATHNIDU DISSANAYAKE

Diniru Sathnidu Dissanayake is 12 years old student in year 8 at Cambridge International School, Dubai. He is a very humble, simple, and well-behaved child who always like to help others. he is an enthusiastic reader who believes that reading makes a full man. To give back to society what he has earned from reading, he started to write. As a result of this, he became a young author.

He has been awarded for the "Most Authentic Voice” in story writing competition with SDGs by The Voice of Future Generation for the middle east -2021. The "Young Voices of Arabia" is the anthology that included his story. The "Elemental Magic" is another anthology with his short story. He is getting ready to publish his first novel soon.

Diniru is very keen and talented in Mental Maths. He is graduated from UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic at U.A.E. in 2019-2020. He has been the Champion in 2019 and the 1st runner up in 2018 in the UCMAS International Abacus competition held in Cambodia and Malaysia. As a regular winner at the UCMAS national Abacus competition, he has been added many championships to his winning journey through visual, mental, and flash competitions.

He has won the National competition gold medal in KenKen International Championship 2021 and the silver medals in 2020 and 2021. The Mental Maths Competition by Ignited Mind Lab also won the 'A' grade gold medals in 2021 and 2019 and won the national competition of MaRRs International Math Bee 2020-2021 and The Maths-Whizz competition.

In his journey, has many winning steps in GCC, national, emirates and school levels in MaRRs International Spelling Bee Championships and InterContinental Spelling Bee and is an excellent performer in GC International Spelling bee Olympiad competition too.

As a multi-talented student, he has achieved outstanding awards every academic year in his school. He is shining in the school showing too his leadership skills.

He is talented at drawing and won many art competitions. He is the 1st place winner in the 'Explore the Moon' painting competition held by National Astronomy Challenge 2021. Playing guitar and singing, playing chess and coding in Minecraft are his hobbies. He has completed the grade 1 keyboard exam with merit in trinity college London.

Diniru is an all-rounder who likes public speaking, debating and oratory. He was the best speaker and the winner in the extempore debate tournaments and many more competitions. MUN, WSC should be added as his favourite places to perform.

He is playing cricket, in ICC Academy Dubai since he was 5 years old and doing athletics In Champion Sports Academy. He has achieved winning goals in 100m, 200m, 400m, 2.5km, 3km running events in Academy and outside too.

Diniru is a volunteer licence holder in the Department of Community Development AD. He is an active volunteer for social and environmental works. He is always trying to spread peace, knowledge, and kindness. Diniru is a dedicated and motivated child who works hard to achieve his goal.
