Ann Mary Joseph is a 11-year-old, seventh grader at The Indian High School, Dubai. Humble, bold, honest, inspiring, confident & imaginative are some of the words which describe her.
An enthusiastic reader who is passionate about writing, Ann has always been an academic achiever and all-rounder at school. She is also a recent recipient of the Sheikh Hamdan Award for Distinguished Students (Cycle 22, 2019-2020).
She loves unleashing her creativity in various ways, be it through stories, poems, or artworks meant to inspire. Public speaking, debating, anchoring and updating her personal blog are her ways of expressing her views. Playing the keyboard, dancing and coding are some of her hobbies.
She has been a regular winner and Rank Holder at the Inter Continental Spelling Bee & MaRRs International Spelling Bee Championships. She also won the first creative contest by Landmark Group’s Beat Diabetes initiative. Her prize winning story was then published as a comic book – Sam & Sara’s First Adventure.
Ann cares for the environment and is an active volunteer for social causes and believes in leading by example. She is a techie and a writer by passion. With her interest in Robotics and coding, Ann is ready to give her all to create a smarter world. Currently she is learning Swift, and is looking to publish her second book.
She has always been a fan of the stage and enjoys trying new things, through competitions and online social media platforms. She recently won the Best Demonstration Award in the MakeX Spark Global Competition, (1st match-2021) (Code for Health), with her creation, ‘Project mCurador’. She has been an active and responsible member of the school Student Council since Grade 3 and was the Sub Junior Head Girl in Grade 6. Her most recent interest has been in Model United Nations Conferences, with quite a few awards under her belt in her first few MUNs itself, like the Best Delegate Award (UNODC, IHSMUN’21), Diplomacy Award (UNHCR, ROMUN 2020) and Outstanding Delegate (ECOSOC, Imprint MUN 2.0). She also has been excelling in Trinity College London exams for Electronic Keyboard, with continuous Distinctions. Recently, she passed Grade 3 with a score of 94.
She enjoys filmmaking and won the third prize in the Rajbhasha Utsav (2020) by the Indian Consulate in collaboration with Bharti Bhasha Samvardhan Samadhan, for a short film about Gandhiji. A regular rank holder in the IOF, with a recent UAE Rank 3 in English Olympiad in 2020 (Grade 6). She also won a Bronze Award in the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Ignite Minds Award 2020, Scholarship examination.
Ann also was a Gold Scholar in the ATS 2020 (Grade 5). She is a regular contributor to the Young Times Magazine and has won prizes for her creative writing skills in India & UAE.
